    Celery Stalks

    green celery stalks

I can barely choke down a V8, let alone a drink made of only green vegetables, so I negotiated myself down with celery in an otherwise berry smoothie.

"You won't even be able to taste the celery."

    You're wrong.

    I can totally taste it.

eeuughhh! >.< have you tried Naked Juice's Green Machine? apple & pineapple juice do their best to hide spirulina, chlorella, blue green algae, spinach, and broccoli - i kinda like it but it could be 'cause i'm weird. http://www.bevnet.com/reviews/nakedjuicefort/Green_Machine

James: I have tried the Green Machine! in fact, when I was in college in Berkeley, I drank a lot of these raw, vegetable, green, suspiciouslywaytooscientific juices and smoothies.

I can't really stand them now. I would honestly rather eat a salad (and I don't usu use dressing) and drink water. It's the same thing.

MyLastBite: And a Bloody Mary, too, I hope.

I quite like celery, but incidentally, I am not a fan of celery in tuna salad!

Celery has that natural salty flavor, I like it tuna salad and of course in Mirepoix and the Trinity.

Yikes! Celery is one that's pretty tastable. I don't mind the taste so much, but if you do, try something more neutral like romaine or even spinach. Those are less noticeable. But at least when the juice kind of has that blegh factor you can feel good about it being good for you ;)

Craig: I don't know what kind of crazy DNA you've got floating in your body but celery has never tasted salty to me. Except when it touches the celery salt on the rim of my Bloody Mary glass ;)

And why is it that when I do a mirepoix type thing, mine always comes out sooo celery-y? Not that it's a bad thing, but like even when I cut the amount in half, it's strong!

Sara: Hm, now Romaine for sure has almost no taste, which makes me wonder if it provides any nutritional value at all in a smoothie. I think I would quite like to keep it on the side and just dip it in Ranch dressing. :D

The spinach I can see for sure, but I have seen those spinach-included smoothies and juices. They look like mud.

I've found that I only like celery in soup... I can't eat it on it's own...

I think that celery needs some peanut butter -- your favorite. ;)

Trissa: I actually don't mind raw celery, and to be quite honest, I'd rather eat the celery by itself and have the smoothie without the celery.

Bianca: Oh yeah! I love cream of celery soup! All the cream and butter and...and celery.

Diana: How about cream cheese and we'll call it even?
