That looks amazing. How was it? I wanted to try Meals by Genet last week, but it was closed. Merkato was a meager consolation...

Joyce: Meals by Genet is *great*! I've had Ethiopian onyl twice before (Rosalind's and Messob), and this one was the best...! Someone else recommended Merkato too though so I want to try that!

Hi, I've been to this place twice now and it is really good. According to an Ethiopian friend, this is the only Ethiopian restaurant one should go to in L.A. :)
One quick question, if you don't mind: what camera do you use when taking these photos? The light in Meals by Genet is fairly low, but your photos turn out great.

I just find it odd to go to Ethiopian and get a tiny portion for a huge chunk of money, when Rahel gives me a fair portion to way too much of just as good if not better food for a fair price. Plus, Rahel lets me bring in wine, beer, or whatever and open it there. She keeps "forgetting" corkage. Mead is from Europe, the Ethiopian Honey wine is Tej.
