I *LOVE* eating oysters!! But I would in no way consider myself a connoisseur! Sometimes going to higher end restuarants they offer European, Chesapeake Bay, or Malpeque.. I'm like "huh?" I would rather have them set a plate in front of me with Tobasco and I'm good to go? Have you ever tried the New Orleans crawfish places that have been popping up around the OC?

Semi-relevant to your recent tweets (and this post, since oyster are supposed aphrodisiacs, despite my friend describing them as "raw phlegmy snot").
The book "fork me, spoon me" has a plethora of info on aphrodisiac foods & beverages. The author's local, nice and she's doing some events in the area. Personally, anything chocolate-y will do the trick for me :)
BTW, best of luck in your abstinence from D. Coke!

I've been to the Acme in Sandestin, and while their oysters aren't the best they are right up there with the higher end restaurants and at a great price. Acme is one of those places you go have a beer with a buddy during March Madness and eat until they roll you home.
But on the subject of oysters! I'm one of those people who when wine connoisseurs calm they can taste different hints of flavor I go huh? but when it comes to oysters the varieties are so different that I know what I like as soon as it hits my mouth. I guess everyone has their own flavor they prefer but I look for a clean sweet butter taste and an after bite thats more fresh water than sea water if that makes any sense.
