I didn't go to Sqirl for the jam... because I don't love sweet, and I don't even really eat toast of any kind. I went to Sqirl for the Rice Bowl.
Sqirl Rice Bowl with Sorrel Pesto
The world-famous Sqirl Rice Bowl is pictured above, with sorrel pesto (no nuts) mixed into Koda Farms Kokuho Rose rice, preserved Meyer lemon, poached egg, hot sauce, radish, dill, and feta cheese.
This is exactly the kind of food I love to eat at almost every meal. Bowl food. Spoon Food. Essentially, this is a "market-driven" bibimbap.
I am developing this idea that "bibimbap" could change the way the world eats. Foundation of whole grains. Rainbow of fermented and fresh vegetables. Sauce. And most importantly, topped with an egg.
It's healthy, happy fucking perfection.
