Mentally, physically, and emotionally. This is about all I can muster today. This entire week, in fact ...
It requires no real thought, no real effort to re-heat in the microwave.
Oh.
But you best believe I can get all kinds of Korean-drama-on-VHS emotional over a bowl of brown rice, flax, and chia seeds.
Brown Rice, Flax and Chia Seeds Porridge
This porridge is likely a remnant of the 28-Day Oatmeal Project I did for TasteSpotting, albeit far more reflective of my real-life Asian foodstyle with the brown rice. I eat flax seeds and chia seeds on the regular these days. Both are good for you/me, though in different ways. I suppose I could pop vitamins and pills that contain the same nutrients, but then I wouldn't have anything to post on my blog.
serves 1 (because seriously, what food blogger would make something like this for anyone other than herself?)
Ingredients
about 1 cup steamed brown rice
½ cup water
2 generous tablespoons ground flax seeds
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon olive oil
flaky sea salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Put steamed rice and water in bowl. Reheat in microwave for 1 minute. Stir, then allow to cool for about 3 minutes. Stir in flax seeds and chia seeds, both of which will "soak" up any water. Add more water ass needed, but do not reheat the entire bowl of rice and seeds.
Drizzle with olive oil and season to taste with salt and pepper.

Its a little late to be chiming in, seeing as how its 2012, but I just love your site. The recipes are easy , quick and most importantly tasty. I'm particulary grateful to you for showing me some new ways to cook with quinoa and brown rice. I've had the quinoa in my cupboard for over a year and didn't have any idea what to do with it.
