Fruits and Vegetables in Season Year-Round
March is a weird month at my farmers' markets, and that's not even including the wildly unpredictable weather that some days pour down torrential rain in sheets, and other days at 82° that are almost too warm to even think about cooking heartier, cool weather produce.
In some places, March is still too soon for the earliest, first harbingers of spring like artichokes, asparagus and peas. However, in California, if the weather permits, we get some of these early babies. If you see them, grab them!

CARROTS
You probably don't pay that much attention to carrots the rest of the year except as a flavor base along with fellow NPCs onions and celery for soups or as a supporting ingredient. But in the winter, when other main character vegetables are off-duty, carrots can take center stage with their bright, crisp, subtly sweet, vitamin A-rich glory.

CAULIFLOWER
If there is one vegetable that has gotten the BIGGEST glowup this century, it's cauliflower, and for good reason. But cauliflower can be the star, too!
